Codiac Regional RCMP
The year 2008 is now behind us. Codiac RCMP Regional Detachment is proud once again to say that all efforts were deployed in order to provide the best possible policing service to the citizens of Dieppe. We also welcomed a new Criminal Operations Officer this year. Indeed, superintendent Wayne Gallant now heads Codiac Regional RCMP, taking over from superintendent Todd Shean.
During 2008, Codiac RCMP Regional Detachment continued using the crime reduction strategy that mostly focuses on repeat offenders. This strategy aims to resolve and prevent a great number of incidents connected to a small group of individuals.
As in past years, the Highway Patrol Section was active in Dieppe. Close to 700 infraction reports were noted by the detachment and other personnel under the different laws that come under their responsibility.
While being served by the Codiac RCMP Regional Detachment, the municipality of Dieppe also benefits from the work of several specialized units. The municipality can count on the services of the Cyberspace Unit, the General Inquiries Unit, the Judiciary Identity Unit, the Anti-Drug Unit and finally the Street Crimes Unit and RCMP volunteers.
The D.A.R.E. Program was offered to all sixth grade students attending Dieppe schools during the 2008-2009 scholastic year. This year, the Codiac Community Detachment benefits from a new civilian employee who will offer different programs in the schools of the region, chiefly at the primary level.
In 2008, the Operations Transmission Station, located in Dieppe, responded to more than 39 000 calls 911. The operators of the station are the first line responders to clients of the Codiac RCMP Detachment.
During this past year, officers responded to numerous calls in Dieppe. Some of the calls pertaining to Dieppe are shown below:
Crimes against people: 137
Crimes against property: 732
Traffic collisions: 374

In conclusion, it should be noted that the Codiac Regional Detachment is very pleased to serve the citizens of Dieppe and hopes that excellent collaboration with elected officials will continue.
