If you had the authority to make decisions on how to spend part of the municipal budget, what would you do to improve your community? The participatory budgeting project (PBP) is a municipal initiative that allows residents to bring forward their own projects that are then submitted for vote.
City council recently approved the second edition of the PBP, and the steering committee was revived.
The ideas phase will soon be launched. Do you want to get involved in the PBP? Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
Starting with a hundred or so ideas, a list of 18 finalist projects made it at the voting phase in which over 1,400 votes were collected. Each project needed a minimum support of 25%.
The following four projects will receive funding (total amount $300,000) from the municipality for the participatory budgeting project:
Lakeburn Rocks - indoor climbing wall
Outdoor physical training circuit
A good old fashioned nature park
Boards and a special playing surface for ball hockey
