Dieppe Fire Department
Mission
The Dieppe Fire Department is devoted to serving its citizens through effective and efficient response to emergencies involving the protection and preservation of life, property, and the environment. In addition, the department is dedicated to increasing fire safety awareness through public education and fire prevention.
Role
Our personnel is highly trained to respond to a variety of emergencies, including fire, medical, hazardous material, rescue, and natural disasters.
We also provide support to our neighbouring rural and urban communities when additional emergency apparatus, equipment and personnel are required.
Department Structure
Our department includes both career and volunteer firefighters and consists of a Fire Chief, a Deputy Chief, a Captain for Fire Prevention, an Administrative Assistant and four platoons. Each platoon has a captain supervising three firefighters and is supported by a current staff of 25 volunteer firefighters.
Administration
The Fire Chief and Deputy Chief are responsible for the day to day operations of the fire department. Their duties include emergency incident command, arson investigations, fire prevention, fire inspections, public education, and firefighter training.
Career Staff
Each platoon consisting of three firefighters and led by a captain respond to fires, medical emergencies, motor vehicle accidents involving injuries, entrapments or spills, natural and propane gas leaks, chemical spills, fuel spills, rescue and confined space entry.
Volunteer Staff
Our volunteer firefighters attend training sessions on a regular basis and obtain medical and fire service qualifications. They play a significant role in supporting our career firefighters at various types of emergencies.
