Mandate

Provide suggestions to City Council on the preservation, protection and promotion of heritage in Dieppe.


Responsibilities

1. Review and analyze related areas of interest at the request of City
Council;

2. Promote the City of Dieppe’s heritage by organizing site identification, site development and pertinent events and, by increasing citizens’ knowledge on those who have made a historical impact on our community;

3. Encourage and promote the organization of activities during Provincial Heritage Week and during any other celebrations on Acadian and Francophone heritage;

4. Create partnerships, develop and maintain good working relationships with other organizations working towards the same mandate;

5. When appropriate, dialogue with other advisory committees in the City;

6. Provide suggestions for developing tools, initiatives and programs for the preservation, protection and promotion of heritage in Dieppe;

7. Provide suggestions regarding the use of Dieppe’s Web site as a tool to fulfill the committee’s mandate;

8. Provide suggestions as to the types of pertinent information that could be distributed to citizens during local events;

9. Contribute to the development and maintenance of a Dieppe heritage data bank that the public can access;

10. Establish an annual work plan and review it annually, including the committee’s priorities and objectives as well as the indicators of success;

11. When appropriate, provide an annual budget request to the Committee’s City of Dieppe staff member before September 30th of each year;

12. Maintain dialogue with City Council on the committee’s mandate, priorities planning and successes.


Membership of the Committee

The Committee will be composed of eight (8) members:

■ one (1) member representing the City Council
■ one (1) member representing a high school
■ one (1) member representing the Université de Moncton
■ three (3) members representing the community
■ one (1) member representing the Dieppe Public Library
■ one (1) member representing the City of Dieppe staff (ex-officio).
