New equipment at the Dieppe Aquatic and Sports Centre
DIEPPE, N.B —The Dieppe Aquatic and Sports Centre recently acquired two new pieces of equipment that will be used to provide a wider variety of programming.
In the recreational two-lane pool, a new platform will reduce water depth so that swimming lessons can be offered to preschoolers.
In the regular swimming pool, an inflatable structure 18 meters in length will facilitate the introduction of more diversified activities. The structure, on which obstacle courses can be organized, will be officially launched during the Dieppe Friendship Carnival being held from February 5-7. On Sunday, February 7, the Aquatic and Sports Centre will organize the first Aquatic Challenges, a free activity that includes individual races in the swimming pool. There will be four age categories: 6 to 9 years, 10 to 12 years, 13 to 15 year and 16 years and over. For younger children or for those who cannot swim, there will be simple aquatic challenges organized in the recreational pool.
“These two new pieces of equipment allow us to add some new features to our programming, explained Luc Bujold, manager of the Dieppe Aquatic and Sports Centre. We received a lot of requests for swimming lessons for preschoolers and adding the platform provides us with that opportunity while at the same time reducing our waiting list. As for the inflatable structure, it is truly a unique feature and we’re looking forward to having people use it.”
