Arts and Culture

Wednesday Show

A series of free open-air concerts for residents and friends every Wednesday night during July and August.  

Art Bank Purchase Program

Art is purchased and displayed in public areas and in City of Dieppe offices. Art chosen is jury selected.

Downtown

Cards 55+

Card lovers meet once a month at Don Cherry's restaurant for an afternoon of cards.

March break activity with the Commandos

During each March break, the municipality organizes, in cooperation with the hockey team the Dieppe Commandos, a fun-filled day of activities.

Easter downtown

Come and celebrate Easter downtown. Several activities based on the Easter theme, including an egg hunt, are organized at Place 1604.   

Flea Market Downtown

Instead of holding a yard sale in your yard, come and join our flea market. Tables can be reserved free of charge.

Leisure Celebration

June is leisure month and the City of Dieppe organizes a fun-filled day of activities at Place 1604 to celebrate the positive impact of leisure in our community.

Noon-Concerts BO-FM

A series of free shows from noon to 1:30 p.m. at Place 1604. People are invited to bring their lunch or to sit down at one of the surrounding patios to enjoy the shows.

Family Picnic

Everyone brings their own picnic and has a good time with friends at Place 1604. Several activities are organized for the younger crowd.

Dieppe 3X3 – Street Hockey Tournament

This street hockey tournament is organized by the Community Recreation and Recreational Facilities Department in cooperation with a dynamic committee of volunteers. The tournament is for young people and adults and is held over a three-day period. Participation is free for youth.

Autumn Festival

This festival celebrates the fall harvest and local products. A community “méchoui” (lamb roasting) is also organized during the event.

 

 Thursday Jams

Local musicians come together at Place 1604 to play their instruments and jam with other musicians. Any other musicians can come and join the jams. Spectators are invited to come out and enjoy the shows.

Drive-in cinema

This activity features movies outdoors. A giant screen is set up at Place 1604 and theatre lovers can come out and enjoy a movie. Projections start at nightfall.

 

Special Events

Canada Day

Each year, in celebration of Canada Day, the municipality organizes a popular party with activities for children and adults. The holidays always ends on a high note with a spectacular fireworks show.

New Brunswick Day

On the first Monday of August, the City organizes a popular activity that celebrates our province’s holiday.

Tribute to Volunteers Evening

During Volunteer week, the City of Dieppe is always anxious to thank the numerous volunteers that give time and energy to the community. Dieppe is a city with an extraordinary quality of life, thanks to the dedication of members of the community.

The goal of the Tribute to Volunteers Evening is to showcase the success and exceptional contribution that volunteers bring to community life. Volunteers are an added-value component in any municipality and Dieppe recognizes their importance and the fact that their efforts contribute to the community’s well-being.

Several Dieppe residents  are active participants in several organizations and give generously of their time as volunteers. 

Dieppe Kite International

Dieppe Kite International is held every two years. Several activities are organized around the kite theme, including kite flying by participants from different regions; a kite combat (Rokkaku) contest; training workshops on kite-building; kite flying for kids, adults and seniors; and, night kite flying.  A series of activities is always organized around an annual theme, for example, musical shows, dinner theatres and other activities.

Friendship Carnival

A host of activities for everyone in the family is always on the menu during the Dieppe Friendship Carnival. The slate of activities allows Dieppe residents to enjoy a quality winter event. More than 30 interior and exterior activities are organized so that residents of all age groups can enjoy winter events. As well, the Dieppe Friendship Carnival gives everyone a chance to discover or rediscover Dieppe’s municipal facilities, while providing Dieppe and surrounding area residents with the chance of enjoying community spirit based programming. 

Acadian Day – August 15th

Each year, August 15th is an important day for Acadians who have been celebrating Acadian National Day since 1881.

In Dieppe, 80% of residents are Francophone and a large majority have Acadian roots. Residents enjoy showcasing their pride in Acadie. Shows and activities are planned for everyone, including the traditional “tintamarre”.

 

Youth and Association Sector

Dieppe Youth Festival

The Dieppe Youth Festival for children from 3 to 12 years of age and their parents is held at the Arthur-J.-LeBlanc Centre. Dieppe youth are invited to participate during this fun-filled week-end with two afternoons of activities.

Cost: free for Dieppe residents, $5 for non-residents.

Programming includes games of cooperation, a Youth Village, shows, sports, cultural and artistic activities, folktale workshops, various games, etc.

The Dieppe Youth Festival is organized by the Department of Leisure Services of the City of Dieppe in cooperation with a municipal advisory committee.     

Jeunesse en folie

Jeunesse en folie is a recreational activities program for young children from the first to the fifth grade. Activities are organized on Valentine’s Day, during March break, at Easter and during the Christmas holidays.

Activities consist of free recreational outings for a maximum of 60 children. Registration is accepted on a first come, first serve basis.

Junior Leaders

The Junior Leaders program, organized by the Dieppe Department of Leisure Services provides teenagers of 14 and 15 years of age with an opportunity to participate in the department’s summer programming and, by doing so, gain valuable leadership experience.

A total of 12 young people are chosen. They must contribute a minimum of 8 hours per week to either Renardi summer camps or special events (or a combination of both). Volunteer registration forms are available from the Department of Leisure Services office of the City of Dieppe, 333 Acadie Avenue.

Renardi Summer Camps

Renardi summer camps welcome children from five years old (who have completed kindergarten) to 10 years old (who have completed fifth grade). Participants enjoy a series of activities, meet new people and make new friends, discover their hidden talents and, most of all, have a great time. A safe and secure environment with qualified personnel is provided for all. Participants enjoy theme days, special guests and outings which are always recreational and educational. Renardi summer camps are offered in the following three schools: Carrefour de L'Acadie, Lou MacNarin and Anna-Malenfant. Camp days are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Four sessions are offered during the summer. Each session runs for two weeks. A maximum of 45 participants is accepted, per session and per school.

Birth certificates are required upon registration.

  • Individuals can register a maximum of two families.
  • Children five years old must have finished kindergarden.
  • Children ten years old must have finished fifth grade.

Renardi Amusant (preschoolers)

Children 3, 4 and 5 years old are invited to enjoy varied, fun-filled and educational activities. This program provides them with the opportunity to socialize and cooperate in a pleasant and educational setting. They meet new people and make new friends, discover their hidden talents and, most of all, have a great time.  A safe and secure environment with qualified personnel is provided for all. Activities include arts and crafts, handicrafts, special guests, singing, etc. Thr program is offered on Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon at Carrefour de l’Acadie and Anna-Malenfant schools. It runs during seven consecutive weeks.

Pumpkin Carnival

Come and enjoy mysterious Halloween decor at the Dieppe Market. Participate in arts and crafts and other interesting activities.

Youth Advisory Committee

The Youth Advisory Committee is the official voice of Dieppe youth. It provides them with the chance to explain their vision and concerns on community development. Dieppe youth are not only able to exchange ideas but they can also maintain permanent dialogue with the individuals who, by their actions or decisions, have an impact on the community in which these young adults live.

Christmas Tales

Children are invited downtown where they can tell Santa what’s on their wish list and enjoy several fun-filled activities built around the Christmas theme. Come and enjoy this magical time with members of your community! 

 

Sports and Active Living

Intersocial Program

The aim of the Intersocial program is to provide an opportunity for persons with intellectual disabilities to become more fully integrated in our community. Three different sessions are held: in the fall (September to December); in the winter (January to April); and in the summer (July and August). All activities are free for Dieppe residents. Program organizers are responsible for insuring the transportation needs of Dieppe participants only. Registration is required. If some spots are still available, Greater Moncton area residents can apply. The cost is $20. Dieppe non-residents must organize their own means of transportation.

Push-push Program

This program is for City of Dieppe parents who are at home or on parental leave. Parents are invited with their children to enjoy a series of walking and well-being activities, including physical work-outs, social activities and health breaks. 

Pepsi Cup

The Pepsi Cup is a series of eight mountain bike races for young girls and boys from 10 to 15 years of age. Races are held Wednesday nights in May and June at Rotary St-Anselme Park in Dieppe. More than $10,000 in prizes can be won.

P.R.O. Youth

P.R.O Youth is a community program that helps Dieppe youth from 2 to 18 years of age to participate in community, cultural and sports activities. The program is designed for children who, due to family or financial circumstances, are not always able to take part in these types of activities. For more information, click here.
