Promotion of French Committee

Mandate
Provide suggestions to City Council on the promotion of French in Dieppe.
Responsibilities
1. Review and analyse areas of related concern at the request of City Council;
2. Accept and study requests (suggestions, recommendations, complaints) forwarded to the City on Dieppe’s visual image as a francophone city and on the service offer in French within City limits;
3. Provide suggestions to City Council on incentive measures that promote Dieppe’s visual image as a francophone city and on the service offer in French within City limits;
4. Provide suggestions to City Council on possible measures to promote the quality of life in French in Dieppe;
5. Promote awareness of the committee’s mandate within the business community and the public;
6. Provide suggestions related to the sign funding program;
7. Organize activities during the Semaine provinciale de la fierté française;
8. Create partnerships, develop and maintain good working relationships with other organizations working towards the same mandate;
9. Develop tools, initiatives and programs for the promotion of French in Dieppe;
10. Establish a work plan and review it annually, including the committee’s priorities and objectives as well as the indicators of success;
11. Where appropriate, provide an annual budget request to the Committee’s City of Dieppe staff member before September 30th of each year;
12. Maintain dialogue with City Council on the committee’s mandate, priorities planning and successes.
Membership of the Committee
The Committee will be composed of eleven (11) members
■ one (1) City Council member
■ one (1) member representing the Dieppe business community
■ one (1) representative from a high school or a postsecondary institution
■ five (5) members from the community
■ one (1) member representing Champlain Place
■ one (1) City of Dieppe staff member (ex-officio)
■ one (1) Economic Development Corporation of the City of Dieppe member (ex-officio)
