DIEPPE MILITARY VETERANS' ASSOCIATION
In 1979, Clarence Cormier, then Mayor of Dieppe, believed that Dieppe should have a Cenotaph much like Lewisville. Moreover, many veterans from Dieppe who had been going to Branch No. 6 Legion in Moncton expressed a desire to regroup in their home town of Dieppe. Ben Gallant and Eustache "Maggie" Babin, then municipal councilors, decided to invite the veterans to talk about the Cenotaph and the formation of an Association. Advertisements were published in the church parish bulletins at St-Theresa, St Anselme and Lakeburn inviting the veterans to a meeting at the "White Hall" located near St-Theresa Church in Dieppe, on the 23rd of September, 1979 at 2000 hours.
