Initiatives
Several transit initiatives and pilot projects are underway in Dieppe.
On-demand transit | ||||||
The City of Dieppe is pleased to offer residents a free, on-demand transit service as part of a pilot project.
On-demand transit is a flexible, efficient and more responsive transit option for residents. It differs from regular transit in that the vehicles don’t follow set routes. Instead, routes are automatically adjusted based on the bookings that riders make. When booking a trip (via the app, website or phone), riders are told which stop to go to for pick-up. Clients are picked up close to where their reservation originated and are dropped off at a stop close to their destination.
To book a ride, download the Blaise Transit app or go to ride.blaisetransit.com Trips must be booked at least 30 minutes in advance but no more than 7 days ahead of the desired departure time. Book your trip as soon as possible to make sure there’s room for you. If you don’t have access to the app or the internet, you can also book a ride by calling 506.877.7818 Frequently asked questionsWhy has the City of Dieppe chosen to offer on-demand transit?To continue to improve service for clients who use transit in the city. The goal is to optimize resources in a way that will benefit clients. What are the benefits for riders?The City anticipates the following benefits:
What are the differences between on-demand and regular service?On-demand service is available by reservation only. It differs from regular transit in that the vehicles don’t follow set routes like Codiac Transpo buses do (i.e., routes 93, 94 and 95). On-demand routes are based on the reservations received. How will on-demand service change the way I use transit?You’ll need to plan your trip in advance, at least 30 minutes but no more than 7 days ahead of your desired departure time. Book your trip as soon as possible to make sure there’s room for you. You’ll also need to book your trip using the Blaise Transit mobile app or online at ride.blaisetransit.com. You can’t simply show up at a bus stop and board a vehicle. Why might the chosen stop be different from my usual stop?The app selects stops based on a number of factors and can choose a different stop to make routes and customer service more efficient. The selected stops are within a walking distance of 500 metres. Riders must follow the directions provided, as the stop selected by the app may change from one reservation to the next. What happens if I have a mobility issue and can’t travel 500 metres?You need to indicate this when you create your profile. The system will take this detail into account when processing the reservation and choose a stop as close as possible. What types of vehicles are used?The main vehicle used is a minibus that can accommodate up to 11 passengers or 3 wheelchairs, but the fleet also includes 2 vans. All on-demand transit vehicles bear the City of Dieppe logo. For more information, call 506.877.7818. |

Park-and-ride | ||||||
In an effort to reduce traffic congestion, the City offers Dieppe motorists a free park-and-ride service. The service allows registered motorists to park their vehicles at designated locations, Monday to Friday between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m., and then use public transit or carpool. Dedicated park-and-ride parking spaces can be found at the Arthur-J.-Leblanc Centre (432 Melanson Road) and along Aquatique Street. To use a park-and-ride lot, motorists need a sticker that must be displayed at the bottom of the windshield on the passenger side. Stickers are available at the Aquatic and Sports Centre (111 Aquatique Street) and at City Hall (333 Acadie Avenue). The following documents must be provided when registering on site:
