Commemoration of the Great Upheaval at the Acadian Odyssey Monument

The City of Dieppe, in partnership with the Fédération des associations de familles acadiennes (FAFA), invites the public to a ceremony marking the Great Upheaval on Tuesday, July 28, at the Acadian Odyssey Monument.

The event is open to all ages and will take place from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. The program will feature fiddle music, bell ringing, flower laying, a tap dance recital, and more.

The Acadian Odyssey Monument stands on Champlain Street, along the Petitcodiac River near the A&W restaurant. It commemorates the Acadian resistance that emerged along this river after the Deportation Order of 1755. Led by the Broussard brothers and their allies, a guerrilla campaign was launched to resist deportation efforts.
