Dieppe Highlights National Francophone Immigration Week

As part of National Francophone Immigration Week, Dieppe invites residents to take part in two free activities that showcase the experiences, conversations and diversity of the Francophone community.

On Sunday, November 1, at 2 p.m., the movie Monsieur Lazhar will be presented at the Dieppe Arts and Culture Centre (331 Acadie Avenue). The screening will be followed by a roundtable discussion featuring a diverse panel.  The movie will be presented in French with English subtitles. The panel discussion will be conducted in French.

Inspired by the theme, “Finding Your Place at the Heart of the Francophonie,” this event will provide an opportunity to reflect on the realities of Francophone immigration, integration, language and sense of belonging in New Brunswick. The roundtable discussion will continue until 5 p.m.

Please note that the film addresses sensitive topics, which may not be suitable for all audiences.

On Friday, November 6, from 4 to 6 p.m., Café Zyriab (331 Acadie Avenue) will host a Human Library (in French only). Members of the public will be able to engage in conversations in a friendly setting with resource persons from a variety of backgrounds. These short conversations will offer an opportunity to discover different experiences and ways of finding one’s place within New Brunswick’s Francophone community. A complimentary beverage will be offered to participants while supplies last.

These activities are free and open to everyone.
