The Battle of Britain Commemorated in Dieppe

The City of Dieppe, in collaboration with the Dieppe Military Veterans Association, is organizing a commemorative ceremony honouring the Battle of Britain and the role of air forces during the Second World War.

The event will take place on September 13, at J.-Laurie-Cormier Park, at the corner of Champlain and Tower streets.

The ceremony will be followed by a reception at the Dieppe Golden Age Club, located at 445 Acadie Avenue.

The Battle of Britain, which began in 1940, involved the Royal Air Force, the Royal Canadian Air Force and aviators from several Allied countries. A total of 112 Canadian military personnel took part in the Battle of Britain. Of these, 23 lost their lives, and three were awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross in recognition of their efforts during the battle.

In the event of rain, the ceremony will be held at the Dieppe Golden Age Club.
