Starting August 23 - On-Demand Transit

The information on this page will take effect on August 23, 2026. For the information currently in effect, please visit dieppe.ca/odt.

The City of Dieppe is pleased to offer an on-demand transit service. This service gives users access to a larger part of Dieppe when travelling, as it covers areas not served by Codiac Transpo’s fixed routes.

On-demand transit is a flexible, efficient transit service that is better adapted to users’ needs. It differs from regular transit because vehicles do not follow a fixed route. Instead, the route is adjusted automatically based on rider bookings.

When booking a trip through the app, website or by phone, riders are told which stop to go to for pick-up.

NOTE: Children aged 11 and under must be accompanied by a user aged 12 or older to use the service.

Schedule

  • Monday to Saturday: 6 a.m.–10:30 p.m.
  • Sunday: 9 a.m.–6:30 p.m.

To book a ride, download the Blaise Transit app or visit ride.blaisetransit.com

Book your ride at least 30 minutes in advance and no more than seven days before your departure. We recommend booking as early as possible to make sure there is room for you.

If you do not have access to the app or the internet, you can book a ride by calling 506.877.7818.

Service area

The turquoise, or light blue-green, section shows the on-demand transit service area. Users can travel between the turquoise zone and Codiac Transpo’s fixed routes through several transfer points.

Trips that begin and end within the turquoise zone are also permitted.

The following are the locations where transfers take place between Codiac Transpo’s fixed routes and the on-demand transit service.

Main transfer points with bus shelters

  • Better coverage: Access transit even if you are far from a regular bus route.
  • Simplified connections: Travel easily within the on-demand service area or connect to Codiac Transpo’s regular network through several transfer points.

  • The service is available in the area shown in turquoise on the map. Two types of trips are permitted with on-demand transit:
  • Transfers:  This service is primarily designed to connect you to Codiac Transpo’s regular network. By transferring at our transfer points, you can easily leave or enter the on-demand zone to reach your final destination anywhere on the network.
  • Trips within the zone: Trips that begin and end within the turquoise zone are also possible.

The service is currently free for all users. Fares are paid when boarding a Codiac Transpo bus.

On-demand transit operates without a fixed route, by booking only, and adapts in real time to riders’ needs. Designed to complement the regular transit network, it allows you to travel easily within the turquoise zone or to reach a transfer point to board a regular Codiac Transpo bus.

This service requires planning, because spontaneous boarding at a stop is not possible. Here are the simple rules to follow:

  • Book as early as possible:
You must book your trip between 30 minutes and seven days before your departure. Booking early guarantees that you will get your preferred time. The later you book, the more likely the system is to reject your request or slightly adjust your pick-up time based on other trips that have already been confirmed.

  • Booking tools:
Bookings can be made easily through the Blaise Transit mobile app or online at ride.blaisetransit.com.

Important: You must have a confirmed booking to board the vehicle. Drivers cannot accept passengers without a booking.

The service is provided using passenger vans that can accommodate up to five passengers. All vehicles bear the City of Dieppe logo.

After you submit your request, the trip will be accepted or rejected by the system within two minutes.

Thirty minutes before your departure, you will receive a notification through the app telling you where to go for pick-up and confirming the exact pick-up time. The assigned stop is generally less than 500 metres from your starting point. If you book by phone, the agent will confirm all these details verbally.

  • Origin: This is your actual starting point, such as your home, workplace or a business. It is where you are before you start walking to your pick-up location.
  • Pick-up location: This is the exact place where you need to go to board the vehicle. Note: For the same trip, the pick-up location may change from one day to the next depending on system optimization.
  • Drop-off location: This is where the vehicle drops you off so that you can finish your trip on foot to your final destination.
  •  Destination:  This is the address or exact location where you want to go.

The system automatically selects the most efficient stop for the vehicle’s route based on your actual location. Since your origin may be located near several stops, the system always selects the one that optimizes everyone’s trip, within a radius of 500 metres or less. By entering your exact starting point, you can make sure you get the most logical pick-up location for you.

The system automatically selects the most efficient drop-off location for the vehicle’s route based on your destination. Since your destination may be located near several stops, the system always selects the one that optimizes everyone’s trip, within a radius of 500 metres or less. By entering your exact destination, you can make sure you get the most logical drop-off location for you.

Yes. You can activate the “Reduced Mobility” option directly in your user profile in the Blaise Transit app. Once this option is selected, the system will adapt its criteria and select only the stops closest to your origin and destination. We ask users to use this option only if their health condition requires it, in order to preserve the efficiency of the network for everyone.

Note: If walking remains impossible or too difficult despite this option, you may be eligible for our accessible transit service. Please feel free to contact our team at 506.877.7900 to learn more.

The driver will not be able to wait for you, so as not to inconvenience other riders. If you are late, please cancel your booking immediately and schedule a new one for a later time. Please also cancel any bookings you no longer need if your plans change.

When selecting the time of your trip, you have two options:

  • The “Leave” option: Choose this option if your departure time is your priority. The system will plan your trip so that you leave your point of origin at the requested time or later.

Example: You finish work at 6 p.m. and would like to start your trip around 6:15 p.m. or later.
  • The “Arrive” option: Choose this option if your arrival time at your destination is your priority. The system will plan your trip so that you arrive at your destination at the requested time or slightly earlier.

Example: You have an important appointment at 3 p.m.

Please note that these complex calculations are handled automatically and cannot be estimated manually, because this is not a direct car trip. The system calculates the duration of your trip based on all other bookings already confirmed in the area. Since this is a shared transit service, the vehicle will likely stop to pick up or drop off other riders during your trip. The duration of the same route can therefore vary from one day to the next. Accordingly, the most effective strategy for arriving at the desired time is still to select the “Leave” or “Arrive” option, depending on your main need.

The system selects pick-up and drop-off stops in order to create an efficient route for all requests. The stops selected for the same trip request may therefore vary from one day to the next.

By booking early, you maximize the chances that your request will be accepted according to your time preferences and avoid a lack of availability during periods of high demand. You can book your trips up to seven days in advance.

Absolutely. By planning your trips in advance, you will avoid the unexpected issues that come with last-minute bookings. The system allows you to book your trips up to seven days in advance.

The service end time is the time when the vehicle stops operating and must be back at the garage. The system cannot accept a trip request that would require the vehicle to travel after that time.

If you need a trip near the end of the day, we recommend making a request with an arrival time that fits within the service schedule. The system will then search for a trip by selecting a departure time that allows the vehicle to provide you with a trip that meets the system’s parameters.

We recommend cancelling your booking if your plans change, to ensure efficient service for all users. If your trip remains active in the system and you are not at the stop, this means that the bus has made an unnecessary trip when it could have served another rider who needed it.

Please note that the system records your no-shows, and they could eventually affect your file. By cancelling your booking, you allow the system to better plan trips and provide the best possible service for everyone.

We strongly recommend arriving at the stop a few minutes early to ensure a smooth pick-up. Although the vehicle does not leave before the scheduled time, it cannot wait for late passengers, in order to ensure quality service for all users. By arriving on time, you help create a pleasant and stress-free travel experience for yourself and the other passengers.

These areas now have direct access to the Codiac Transpo network thanks to the new fixed routes, which offer service at regular intervals. Since they are located near a regular bus stop, on-demand service is no longer needed there. Riders can travel directly, without having to book.

The purpose of this update is to optimize the Dieppe network. On-demand transit does not replace regular buses; it is used to serve areas that do not have easy access to them.

The update to the on-demand transit service area is aligned with the activation of Dieppe’s new fixed routes.

Depending on your starting point and destination, one of the following three situations will apply to your trips:

Option 1: Your trip will still be provided entirely through the on-demand service

·        If you are travelling only within the turquoise zone

·        If your starting point is in the turquoise zone and your destination is one of the transfer points

Option 2: Trip possible by combining both services

If you are travelling between the turquoise zone and an area located less than 500 metres from a Codiac Transpo fixed route, you must use a combination of the two services. You use on-demand transit to reach a transfer point, then complete your trip on the regular network, or vice versa.

Option 3: Trip possible on the Codiac Transpo fixed-route network

If both your starting and ending point are less than 500 metres from a Codiac Transpo fixed route, your trip will now be made by regular bus. Thanks to the addition of new stops and new routes, these trips no longer require a booking and are made directly according to Codiac Transpo’s regular schedule.
