Water System Upgrade: Temporary Service Interruption
The City of Dieppe will be carrying out a temporary water service interruption in certain areas on Monday, August 18, and Tuesday, August 19, 2025, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. This initiative is part of Phase 2 of the Dieppe Boulevard extension project and aims to provide a reliable water network for years to come.
This work is essential to modernize municipal infrastructure and ensure a long-term water supply for all residents. Affected households will receive a notice by mail with instructions to follow before, during, and after the service interruption.
Affected areas
- From 2135 to 2685 Amirault Street;
- Dover Road and all adjacent streets;
- All streets connected to the municipal water supply within these boundaries.
Night work planned
To minimize impacts on daily activities, work will take place between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Boil Water Advisory
Once service resumes, a boil water advisory will be in effect for affected households. Water intended for consumption must be boiled for at least one minute. The advisory will remain in place until bacteriological tests confirm that the water is safe to drink. A notice will be distributed when the advisory is lifted.
Tips to prepare
- Close the water valve where the water line enters your basement;
- When the water service is restored, run your water for 10 to 15 minutes;
- If the building has a sprinkler system, a pressure drop could trigger your alarm. We recommend you contact your alarm system supplier, your insurance company and your fire department to advise them of the water disruption;
- All water used for drinking must be brought to a ROLLING BOIL FOR AT LEAST ONE MINUTE, including water that is used for brushing teeth, making ice, making coffee/tea or juice and washing fruits or vegetables. This is particularly important for those whose immune systems are compromised (i.e. elderly, infants, people with transplanted organs, on dialysis, etc.). Please note that home water filtration devices (water softener, pitcher filters, etc.) can not eliminate microorganisms that could make you sick;
- Water can be boiled in a pot or kettle on a stove or in an electric kettle without an automatic shut-off;
- It is not necessary to boil water used for other household purposes such as bathing, showering, laundry or washing dishes. When bathing or showering avoid swallowing the water.
The City thanks residents for their understanding and cooperation. This work is an important step toward a robust water system that meets the needs of our community.
