Dieppe Launches Frigo Med Initiative to Support Emergency Response
In a medical emergency, every second counts. To help first responders act quickly and effectively, the City of Dieppe, in partnership with the Age-Friendly Community Advisory Committee, is launching the Frigo Med initiative. Through this program, residents aged 50 and over can receive a free Frigo Med kit to keep essential medical information readily accessible at home.
Frigo Med is a simple yet vital tool. It ensures that critical medical details—such as a person’s medical history, current medications, allergies, and recent surgeries—are available at a glance when needed most. The kit includes a medical information form, an envelope, and a magnet to place on the refrigerator. When first responders see the magnet, they know exactly where to look for vital health information.
Information sessions about the program will be held on Wednesday, May 14, and Thursday, May 15, at the Rotary Pavilion in Rotary St-Anselme Park.
“I’m so proud to see this project come to life. It will be a valuable asset for our seniors. Thank you to the City of Dieppe and the local pharmacies for their support in making this service available free of charge to residents over 50,” says Carmen Renault, a member of the Age-Friendly Community Advisory Committee.
Frigo Med kits will be available starting Thursday, May 15, at seven participating pharmacies in Dieppe, as well as at the Aquatic Centre and City Hall. For a full list of participating pharmacies and details about the information sessions, visit dieppe.ca/seniors
This initiative reflects Dieppe’s continued commitment to enhancing the safety and well-being of seniors in the community.
