Dieppe launches renewed volunteer recognition event
DIEPPE, NB — The City of Dieppe is proud to announce that it will be recognizing its many volunteers at a revamped gala event that is getting a new expressive and unifying name. Les Chalins is an awards evening organized by the City to highlight outstanding contributions to community life and achievements by volunteers in eight categories.
Three finalists will be nominated in each category, and a winner for each will be chosen from among them.
“Chalin is an Acadian word that means a flash of heat that lights up the sky,” says Community Officer Jérémie Robichaud. “We couldn’t think of a more fitting way to describe the contribution of our many volunteers to our growing community and the positive impact they have on the quality of life of our residents.”
Members of the public are invited to nominate individuals who have done outstanding volunteer work over the past year for a prize in one of the following categories:
- Seniors
- Sports and recreation
- Francophonie and culture
- Environment
- Community involvement
- Involvement by a newcomer
- Youth involvement
- Star of the year (Personality of the year)
The deadline for nominations is Thursday, March 23, at 11:59 p.m. (Atlantic time). The rules and eligibility criteria, as well as the nomination form, can be found at dieppe.ca/en/chalins
A selection committee made up of three residents will evaluate the nominations received. The finalists and their families will be invited to the Les Chalins gala event on April 19.
