DIEPPE, NB — Tickle your taste buds! The Dieppe Harvest Festival has a delightful program in store for lovers of good food from September 10-13.

The festival kicks off Thursday, September 10 with the opening of an exhibit entitled Maritima, showcasing art and nature type sculptural ephemeral installations created by artist André Lapointe from 5-7 p.m. at the Dieppe Arts and Culture Centre (DACC).

If you enjoy bite-sized foods, this is for you! Tastings using local products provided by members of La Cuisine Collective, including head chefs Pierre Richard (Little Louis’ Oyster Bar), Michel Savoie (Les Brumes du Coude) as well as Jean-François and Maxime Daigle (Maison BeauSoleil), accompanied by Atlantic wines, beer and spirits provided by Luc Doucet (Maître D, Les Brumes du Coude). This tasting will take place as part of the Culinary Experience held Friday, September 11 at the DACC. Furthermore, the event will feature artwork consisting of creations made of edible foods, live art with Janet Mlodecki (art for sale), music by MKW and special cocktail creations by Jacques Allain (La Cuisine Collective). Tickets on sale for $38 (limited number of places): 854.2787 or in person at the DACC.

The oyster shucking competition will take place Saturday, September 12 at the Dieppe Market from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m where chefs, oyster fishermen and professionals from the industry will face-off in this action filled competition! Admission for this event is free.

“Because the fall season gives us beautiful produce pickings, we’re offering, this year, a new and very interesting workshop on bottling vegetables that are in season with the Slow Food Cocagne Acadie and Transition Cocagne crew, says Mathieu D’Astous, Executive Director at Really Local Harvest.” This workshop will take place Saturday at  1:30 p.m. at the Dieppe Arts and Culture Centre. Please note that containers will be provided and that there are a limited number of spots available. (Registration: 854.8557)

The festival ends Sunday, September 13 with a gourmet BBQ from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Dieppe Market. Three gourmet hamburgers will be created using local products, served with corn and a beverage. Prepared by head chef Pierre Richard of Little Louis’ Oyster Bar and music provided by The BackYard Devils, you won’t want to miss this! Tickets are available on site for $10/adult or $6/children. (Held jointly with the Crossroads for Women race.)
