Gentle Densification Project: Call for Public Comments
The City of Dieppe is proposing amendments to Municipal Development Plan Z-9 (2017) and Zoning By-law Z-10 (2021). The goal is to allow up to three accessory dwellings, in addition to the main dwelling, in certain residential areas.
Like elsewhere in Canada, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find housing, and rents continue to rise. To address this, the City is introducing a gentle densification approach. In practical terms, owners of low-density residential properties (areas zoned R1 and R2) could adapt their homes to create up to four units, while preserving the character of the neighbourhood.
The proposal was presented to City Council on September 8. You are invited to view the presentation, which outlines the proposed changes, conditions and next steps, by visiting: https://www.dieppedialogue.ca/gentle-densification-4-unit.
The deadline to submit comments is October 8, 2025. Comments must be provided in writing to the Clerk at 333 Acadie Avenue, Dieppe NB, E1A 1G9 or by email at clerksoffice@dieppe.ca.
