Temporary Closure of the Skating Oval

DIEPPE, NB — The City of Dieppe wishes to inform the public that the refrigerated skating oval at Place 1604 is temporarily closed to public.
A mechanical breakdown was discovered and we wish to proceed with the repair as quickly as possible to be able to enjoy a longer skating season once the temperatures become milder.
It is important to note that this work will not result in any costs to the municipality or taxpayers.

Collège and Champlain Streets intersection – lighting poles

DIEPPE, (NB) — The City of Dieppe wishes to advise motorists that work will take place to install the new lighting poles on Collège Street from Thursday, January 5 to Friday, January 6, weather permitting.
Some lane reductions are to be expected on Champlain and Collège Streets during this work. Flaggers will be onsite to direct traffic.
It should be noted that businesses will remain accessible during this period.

Official opening of the refrigerated skating oval

DIEPPE, (NB) — The population is invited to the official opening of the refrigerated skating oval that will be held on Friday, January 6, during the launch of the Fun on ice concert series.
Over 140 meters long, five meters wide (seven meters at both ends), the new refrigerated oval will be used to practice skating from December to March.

Christmas tree pickup

DIEPPE, (NB) — The City of Dieppe wishes to advise residents that the Christmas tree pickup for households with regular weekly garbage collection on:
- TUESDAY, will be held on Tuesday, January 10
- WEDNESDAY, will be held on Wednesday, January 11
- FRIDAY, will be held on Friday, January 13
Christmas trees may be placed at curbside a few days before the scheduled pickup, but cannot be frozen in the snowbank.

Passing of former mayor William “Bill” Malenfant

DIEPPE, NB — It is with great sadness that we have learned of the death of William “Bill” Malenfant, former councillor and mayor of Dieppe, and former provincial MLA.
Mr. Malenfant had a long career in the municipal sector. He first served as town councillor from 1969 to 1971, before being elected mayor for the first time in 1971.
He was re-elected for seven more terms as mayor in 1973-1974, 1974-1977, 1983-1986, 1986-1989, 1989-1992, 1992-1995 and finally 1995-1998.
