Realignment of Thomas Street

Map showing the construction area

This project will include the construction of Thomas Street, from the Gauvin/Lafrance roundabout to the existing Thomas Street, near Devarenne Street. This phase also includes the connections of Blanchard, Danny, and Devarenne Streets to Thomas Street. The project will also include the installation of a storm sewer and a watermain along the new street section.

Construction schedule

Work will take place from May to October. Construction hours are generally from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday. Some work may also be carried out on weekends and evenings.

Traffic impacts

Lane reductions are to be expected in the area for the duration of the works. In order to work safely and efficiently, the temporary closure of certain street sections is also possible. That said, access for property owners will be maintained.

It is also possible that your driveway may need to be blocked for a period of time. If this is the case, the site supervisor will notify you the day before.

During the project

  • The nature of the work may require us to encroach on your property. The project contractor is responsible for repairing any material damage and for site restoration. Photos will be taken prior to construction to document site conditions.
  • Please note that any flower beds, plants, flowers, etc. located in the municipal right-of-way will not be restored after construction. If you wish to keep them, please relocate them before construction begins.
  • Once work begins, heavy equipment will be required to carry out the construction. Noise and vibration are to be expected.
  • We are committed to keeping the construction site clean and safe, and will make every effort to minimize inconvenience. However, dust and noise are unavoidable aspects of construction projects.
  • Individuals with special needs should discuss their concerns with the Project Inspector on site, Catharina Vasconcelos (506.874.6001), as soon as possible, to minimize any inconveniences.

How You Can Help

  • Stay clear of the work zone for your safety and the safety of the workers.
  • Drive carefully in the area and pay close attention to workers' directions and road signs.
