The City of Dieppe is aware of the major potential impact of climate change and wants to maintain a high-quality living environment. To that end, it strives to follow the best environmental practices available and develop the municipality responsibly and in harmony with the natural environment that surrounds it.

The city’s goal is to create projects and initiatives that help maintain these natural assets. It encourages active transportation through its network of trails and bike paths and promotes the use of public transit and alternative forms of transportation.

Energy
Energy conservation is key. Changes have been implemented to not only conserve energy, resulting in significant cost savings, but also to reduce our energy use.
Forestry

Urban forestry is of vital importance to the city. The municipality currently maintains more than 5,000 trees, not including treed areas.

The tree maintenance staff:

  • assesses and manages the municipality’s trees
  • creates and implements management plans for urban trees and wooded areas
  • plants, maintains, protects, preserves and, when necessary, removes trees located within city limits
Water
Water conservation is also important for the environment and our wallet! By reducing our water consumption, we preserve our water supply and the environment. The municipality is happy to share these few tips you can apply at home. Click on the following link to learn how to use and install a rain barrel.
Electric vehicle (EV) charging stations

Dieppe has eight EV charging stations located throughout the city, and guess what: they are offered free of charge!

Stations are available at these locations:

  • Dieppe Aquatic and Sports Centre (111 Aquatique Street)
  • UNIplex (450 College Street)
  • Place 1604 (225 Gauvin Road)
  • Arthur-J.-LeBlanc Centre (432 Melanson Road)
